Brooklyn, NY - AFL Muay Thai hosted its second fight of the year in stunning fashion returning to the Post BK. Saturday Night Fights, a literal name and a nod to New York Muay Thai history took place on May 6th 2023
The card was ordered by experience levels and rule sets; Novice, Modified and Full Rules.
“It’s important to illustrate the progression of skills, you can’t match the excitement when you feature 6 Full Rules fights, but at the same time we still give opportunity to some debuts performances” said Sean Hinds, Head Matchmaker
The main event, crowd favorite Jason Melendez earned his 5th straight promotional win against a game opponent in Jake Sathmary of New Jersey of Weapons 9
Co-main event had Nyo Win training out of Hinds Combat faced Jhon Robinson from Evolution Muay Thai. Win, a Lethwei competitor, found himself traveling across the globe to take on Robinson after a late change to his original scheduled bout. A “Smart strategy for the heavier Robinson, great tactics by that Evolution team with work in clinch, '' Justin Kwan, Business officer commented post event on Robinson’s win
Following the theme of the night, Cinco de Mayo, fighters received custom shorts and apparel sporting colorways of the Mexican Flag. Guests in attendance enjoyed imported drinks and tacos were provided by a local vendor
A parting comment by CEO, Kit Yeung “It was a great night, I welcome anyone to reach out with their coach, we would be happy to have you come in July”.
