Friday, April 22nd, the Inaugural AFL event featured action packed Muay Thai matches all night long.
The original 12-bout card was in high anticipation and it did not disappoint.
In the main event, from Hinds Combat’s Jayh Rodriguez took on Ameer Khattab out of Rami Elite, edging out a victory in a close 3 round match. Despite the loss of the 18-year old, Ameer showed grit and a variety of skills.
“I am thoroughly impressed, with Ameer, the kid is going places and hopefully AFL can help him along the way” says Justin Kwan, Managing Director of AFL
The youngest athlete to step into the arena, goes to Sitan Gym’s Colin Sampilo, who at 11-year old bested his opponent via referee stoppage.
Other highlights include a TKO win by Daniel Schaw and performances between Isabelle Du Plessis out of Two Bridges and Fiona Ho of Kings Williamsburg, who proved themselves to be “co-main event material” after the original scheduled bout between Terry Cho and Daniel Ferrer was canceled for medical reasons.
Lead Matchmaker, Sean Hinds says “There was no one who fought tonight that didn’t bring it. We’re proud, and will look ahead to next matchups and AFL rankings”
